Miller Road fire

The Miller Road fire began around 1:30pm Tuesday August 2, 2022.

The impact of the fire can be appreciated in this pair of before and after images taken by the European Space Agency's Sentinel 2 satellite on July 26 and August 5, respectively.  For the fire department, this was the most expensive fire ever and the most challenging since the August 2010 conflagration.

The fire spread to more than 9,000 acres by the evening of August 2, when the south front was held at Natural Pasture Road, and to nearly 11,000 acres after a blowup on the north flank during high winds on August 3.

Around 40 structures were burned in this fire.
