Engine 2

JFRFPD acquired Engine 2 in 2025 through the BLM RFR program (Rural Fire Readiness Program).  The engine is a 2006 Freightliner 4x4 truck with an 800 gallon tank and a rear-mounted Kubota diesel pump (technically a Type 4 wildland engine). Here is a view of the driver's side:

And the passenger side:

We modified the engine by adding rear and front bumper nozzles, center nozzles and a monitor, all controlled inside the cab, to allow aggressive initial attack consistent with our highly-mechanized wildfire fighting philosophy. We added a dashcam and approximately 3,000 feet of hose, split between pre-connected lines and hose packs.  The front center nozzles help with laying a wet line and to protect the engine when it is necessary to drive over recently burned ground:

Bumper nozzles allow us to extend the width of a wet line:

Rear center nozzles with overlapping spray patterns can be used to increase the coverage of a wet line:

The Kubota diesel pump, visible on the right side of the rear platform can be controlled from the rear location or started from the cab.
